We've rented many homes around the world, and we appreciate that it's special to be somewhere new. We want you to really relax, take in the ocean views, and embrace Costa Rica. We have a concierge team ready to assist you with anything you might need and make sure you have a touchpoint in country to handle any issues.
This list is just the questions we often wanted to know before booking:
We have 300MB service to the house. We have a mesh wifi system in place that covers the house.
Probably not your biggest concern being in Costa Rica... But we have a large TV in the living room, one in the master, and one in one of the additional bedrooms. The TVs in the bedrooms are freestanding so you can move them if need be (they have to be put back in their original place at checkout).
Every TV has an Apple TV attached to it. Those Apple TVs I have running through a VPN in the US, so that any streaming service you have will work as if you're in the US.
We have basic supplies, but with renters in and out it's hard to say for certain what is available. Our concierge can do pre-shopping for you (you have to request it from them), or conversely there is a very nice grocery store at the entrance to our community. I recommend stopping there on your way in and get whatever your family needs for a meal and coffee for the first morning.
I also highly recommend grabbing a bag or two of ice. Valhalla has an ice maker on the patio, but depending on the length of time since the last rental, the cleaning crew may have turned it off. It takes about 2 hours to get good ice out of it once it is turned on. Much like any refrigerator we have an ice maker, but because it may not be used frequently it might jam up.
The grocery store has a liquor section (standard Jack, Absolut, etc.) or you can also buy liquor on your way out of the airport through customs.
My wife and I like to drink. We like ice. I don't leave it to risk.
We have a couple of different coffee makers including drip and Keurig. We stock a lot of filters and local coffee in the pantry, but much like food it's hard to say what will be left from one group to the next.
My wife and I like coffee. I don't leave it to risk.
We have 3 charging docks around the house. Each dock has six USB ports. Each dock has 2 USB-C cords, 2 lightning cords, and 2 Micro USB cords.
Valhalla is solid concrete so it is pretty quiet generally inside, but we have sound machines in each bedroom if you need it to help you sleep.
The house has a filtration system. I drink the water from the tap. It is Costa Rica. So there is a dispenser in the pantry that takes a 5 gallon of bottled water that you can buy from the store (or have the concierge purchase for you before you arrive).
Villa Valhalla is on a steep incline. The house itself is all one story, but you have to climb a flight of stairs to get from the driveway to the house. The stairs are unavoidable, so if this is a negative I want to make sure you know it before going.
Pacifico is a very nice neighborhood, and we have very nice neighbors. We don't expect our renters to be puritans, but we do expect you to be respectful of neighbors and the neighborhood. This isn't a party house, it's meant to be a sanctuary for families to really experience the beauty of Costa Rica, and have a great time doing it.
Valhalla is next to a strip of land dedicated by the community for nature so there are no neighbors on that side. It isn't really accessible (steep drop off on the side of the house), but it provides seclusion and depending on the season the howler monkeys use it as a highway up and down in the morning and evenings.
